HP Envy 5541 Printer Offline Issue

Given here are some fixes for the HP Envy 5541 Printer Offline issue.

Download and Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • First, go to HP’s Printer website and download the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Next, open the HPPS.exe file from your browser’s download bar. When the HP Print and Scan doctor opens, select Start option and select the name of your printer.
  • In case you don’t find the name of your printer in the list, you can turn it off and on and click Retry.
  • If there’s some issue with the connection then follow the instructions on the screen to fix it.
  • Next, if you see a screen that says you must update your printer drivers, click Yes. In case you see an option to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

HP Envy 5541 - Set the Default Printer Manually

If you’re a Windows 10 user, you should follow the steps below. In case you use Windows 7 or Windows or Windows 8, skip the following section and go straight to the section that tells you how to set the default printer for your operating system.

Windows 10

  • First, search for devices in your Windows 10 system and select “Printers and Scanners” from the list of results.

HP Envy 5541 - Troubleshooting USB Connection

  • First, switch off the printer and computer and remove the USB cable from the printer.
  • Then, inspect the cable for any damage. If the cable is damaged, replace it with a new cable.
  • Next, check if the cable is longer than 3m. In case the cable is longer than 3m, get a cable that is much shorter.
  • Then, check if the port is USB 2.0 or higher. In case you’re using a USB hub, disconnect the cable from the hub and connect it to the printer directly.
